Abstract:
This paper makes a critical analysis of the newly published
monograph by Nikola Zhezhov, an attempt for a biography of
Kiril Drangov. This article introduces new sources and evidence
of Drangov’s activities in Skopje during the Bulgarian rule of 1941 – 1944.
The text reviews the monograph from the first to its last
part; an attempt is made to refute the author’s statements about
the national identity of that figure, as presented in the preface. An
overview of each part of the monograph is made and a number
of omissions and contradictions are described, especially those
concerning Drangov’s function as an active leader of the Internal
Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), his fate and
positions from the 1934-coup to the end of 1944.
Keywords: Macedonia, Bulgaria, Kiril Drangov, Nikola Zhezhov,
IMRO.
